One app, two jobs

Sort is for anyone with a big photo folder. Pro is for photographers who work in Lightroom.

Sort

For families and anyone with a big archive

Add a few photos of a person and choose a folder. Winnow copies or moves every match into a folder named after them.

  • Group photos work: tap the face you mean
  • Photos with closed eyes are set aside on their own
  • Review every match before you keep it
  • JPEG, PNG, TIFF and camera RAW files
Sort mode: matches for one person, ready to review

Pro

For photographers who use Lightroom

Name everyone in the shoot at once. Winnow tags each RAW file with who is in it, so your catalog can filter by person. Nothing is copied.

  • Find shots of people together, or of them alone
  • Optional small proof JPEGs per person for client selection
  • Closed-eye shots are flagged for review
  • Your own keywords and edits are never touched
Pro mode: everyone in the shoot tagged for Lightroom

How it works

  1. Add the person

Pick a few clear photos of them, or one group photo and tap their face.

  2. Choose the folder

Any folder on your computer or an external drive, with its subfolders if you like.

  3. Run the scan

Winnow checks every photo and shows each match for you to review before anything is saved.

Your photos never leave this computer.

Faces are matched on your device

Recognition runs on your own processor. There is no Winnow server that could receive a photo.

No account, no tracking

No sign-up, no analytics, no ads. The app goes online only to download its face model once and to activate a license.

You stay in control

Sort saves only to folders you choose. Pro writes small keyword files beside your RAW photos and never edits the photos themselves. Read the privacy policy

Questions

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Faces are detected and matched on your own computer, and nothing about your photos is sent to us or anyone else.

Does Winnow need the internet?

Only to activate a license, plus a quiet check about once a month. The face models are built in, so scanning works completely offline from the first launch.

Which photos can it read?

JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP and camera RAW files, including CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, ORF, RW2 and RAF. It runs on Windows 10 and 11.

How do Pro results show up in Lightroom?

Winnow adds keywords to the small .xmp sidecar files next to your RAW photos. In Lightroom Classic, search Keywords for a person's name to see their photos. For a folder you imported earlier, use Metadata, then Read Metadata from Files.

What does the free trial limit?

Nothing about how Winnow searches. Every scan checks the whole folder and shows you all its matches; the trial saves up to 10 of them. A license removes the limit.

How many computers can I use it on?

Up to 3 of your own computers with one license.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Email support@findwinnow.com within 14 days of buying and we'll arrange a refund. Payments and refunds are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record.

Is there a Mac version?

Not yet. Winnow is Windows-only for now.
